Speaking in front of a camera is its own animal, it's nowhere like speaking to a live audience or a group, so I don't think you need to feel you've lost any skill at oratory - it's a change, sure, but there are lots of techniques readily availble if one wants to practice.

Why should you lose readers for writing up/down/across about DT? A person who reacts with "Oh he didn't hate/love so-and-so enough, I'm dropping him" is just woke of another flavour.

An intelligent sane person can read whatever they want, think it over, and draw their own conclusions. Someone who insists on puritan purity and liturgical dogma in civil discourse is someone to avoid, as they are sick in the head.

I don't really think my take would shed 90% of readers. I'm pretty non-(or even anti-)partisan, so my reader base is likely somewhat skewed away from hard partisans. But the partisans at both wings will not be happy with what I think took place in the Trump era.

Expand full comment

Isn't that a requirement to be partisan in the first place? To be unhappy with whatever the designated hate-fetish did or did not do?

It's just as bad here. It's all picking sides, no discourse, no knowledge, no intelligence. Just primal tribalism and pack mentality:

"Oh, so you condemn Putin! You are nazi because Ukraine has Azov Batallion!"

"Oh, so you don't condemn Putin! You are nazi because Putin is fascist invader!"

It's not hard to understand that certain people with too much power and money get tempted to think in terms of "wipe them out, all of them" and start over.

On a brighter note, there are lots and lots of civilians organising help for ukrainians. Spontaneously, no NGOs involved, no states, no UN. Just people.

Edited for spelling.

I do hope that fleeing Ukrainians get the help they need, regardless of the actions of powerful rulers. War is always sad.

I think it depends. I stopped listening to Sam Harris in 2016 because I found it embarrassing to watch his histrionic pants-shitting coming from someone who's supposed to be a champion for critical thinking and rational assessment.

I didn't need him to agree with me, but I did need him to make cogent arguments.

Similarly I stopped subscribing to Alex Berenson after his pointless attack on Robert Malone then his terrible behavior with regards to Ivermectin. He doesn't need to think it works, I would probably agree with him it's a bit oversold, but he seized on one small study from Bangladesh or something and acted like it was case closed, then posted a follow up calling his critiques fanatics. But all I saw in the comments was measured criticism (I'm sure there was garbage buried in there somewhere).

All this to say, if Matthew is hinting he's irrational and histrionic on the DJT topic, then yeah, he should probably just keep it to himself. As would be my advice for anything he would be unhinged about :)

“If I ever write up my take on Donald Trump, I'll probably lose 90% of my readership.”

At this point in the game, that shouldn’t matter a whit. When things really start coming apart I would hope folks would shrug off the chains of partisanship BS and unite for once. The bastards are trying to exterminate us( at least a decent portion anyway) for whatever sick reason, and we can’t just sit around and wait for their next move. Not saying violence is the answer, but inaction is insanity.

I went to a conference in late January that was a subset of 30,000 people across multiple nations establishing communities with the expressed purpose of taking a step outside of the system. I was surprised to find that many people organizing for the purpose. But land prices have jumped markedly in just the past 18 or so months and probably won't recede until after a serious economic disruption.

There are nonviolent actions to take, of course. Everyone needs to get busy building their arks now, whatever that means in this era.

Yeah, that’s for sure. Haven’t done anything yet because, like I said, i thought I was losing it. My wife believes me now. One thing I’ve been pondering this evening though, what’s next? The folks that perpetrated this aren’t dumb. And they have a LOT of power and money. Sky’s the limit really. They have to have planned on the inevitability of the masses connecting the dots. It’s scary to think about what they would do next. Lot of options. All of them bad.

You aren't crazy!

I know how you feel. Having some perspective on the reality of the evil in control and connecting those dots can definitely leave you feeling like you're losing it! It's so overwhelming.

The advice Matthew gave of "get busy building your ark" is great advice, and it could look a bit different for everyone. If you lack funds or resources to start scooping up land, etc, (like me!) Your ark at the moment could resemble actively seeking out others geographically near you who are like- minded. Maybe throw a couple dollars toward btc, and/ or precious metals. (In addition to this nightmare, it also seems like there is crazy shit going on with solar activity and the Earth's poles.. so having silver/ gold in hand is not a bad idea in my opinion! )

I often start to feel scared for myself and my children, and desperate about "what could happen next" like you mentioned, and how unprepared I feel to protect/ defend. But the best thing I can do, is the best thing I can do! I'm grateful that I'm a relatively short drive from the "live free or die" state, and there's a huge population of freedom fighters there.

Anyway, if you are worried about what happens next, and you feel like you're losing it, you're in the club, welcome. ❤️

I love your writing.. Don't always understand it but that is down to my stupidity rather than your style... Sometimes it is like finger tips on a mountain. I've been thinking about arks too and if I might be so cheeky I would love to read your most simple advice on this given your background and unusual mind. I do realise USA will be a different context to other places but it would still be useful to know your thoughts. At present I am thinking buying some cheap land and a house not too far from civilisation would be a good idea... Not that any land or houses are cheap now!!

Thankyou so much for fighting the good fight :)

I have followed that movement for a while, but I have great doubts that it can succeed generally without Bitcoin first succeeding, or the world not having enough military resources to just send boats out to arrest the seasteaders, as has already happened.

Matt, I stumbled onto your sub stack this morning about 10am. In one way, I’m relieved, because I can quit thinking I’ve gone crazy. Another, holy sh*t.

I pointed out when Trump was a candidate he would be a speed bump only. That prediction turned out to be correct. They will not let him have another term, that's what January 6 was all about, too bad innocent people are being jailed. The powers look at it as just collateral damage. The problem was the man truly thought being president was like running a corporation, he would be in charge. He did not understand that DC is an ocean of corruption not a swamp. Our republic has only years left not decades. There are reasons I say this, but one of the largest pieces of evidence backing my statement is that all republics fail. They fail because the representative becomes unbearably corrupt and the system folds in on itself. We will go the way of Great Britain's demise, just one day we're not number one anymore. It will shock the world.

Thrilled to see so many interviews I can listen to. You do speak well, in a quiet and measured way, with a whole lot of gravitas. Thanks for this Substack article Mathew. I'm kind of dreading to find out what you have been researching over the last while - it feels like it might be something momentous. And yes, as you replied to Christo, the building of community is so important right now. And so rewarding! A garden is a great distraction too.

I look forward to getting hands dirty with a bit of soil.

Actually, what I'd really like to do is rehabilitate some land. Land rehabilitation is much more achievable than what most people realize. I'll leave most of the farming to somebody else, and work on the architecture of the system. I'll spend more time with the animals than the plants (I cannot wait to have all the animals).

Yes! Fantastic idea. I did a goat-raising workshop with a fascinating German woman (who is also part of our “freedom/resistance” group). She has a background in biodynamic cattle and regenerative agriculture. She lived in Shanghai for a long time, but also worked doing decontamination at Fukushima and at mining spills in other countries. She uses an eclectic approach involving homeopathy, kinesiology, mycelium and mineral balancing. For example she observes which weeds grow in succession as the land heals.

With her goats their behaviour is determined by their being able to access a set of six minerals that she sets out in little wooden trays for them. They come and lick whatever they need.

I’ve doing a lot of permaculture reading and trying to apply it to our property. David Holmgren (father of permaculture) lives in my state and has written superbly about his concern over the draconian government’s approach. I’ll try and find a link for you. He is a wonderful genius. Ostracised now by many in the community for daring to speak out. Kind regards!

Just yesterday after joining an online comment thread about my professional organization (the APTA) I came to the conclusion that what is really needed is some sort of association for medical freedom. Now I see you did an interview with HFFH and am now excited to join their cause as I think it is the answer to so many problems. The mindset of too many members of the professional class is infected with the notion that coercion and government decree is the way to improve the quality of professional services. The truth of this has been made obvious to any among this class of "new dissidents" in the medical professions in the covid context. In this intellectual war advocacy and respect for individual liberty is the most important inoculation against the mind viruses propagated by the agitariat. I look forward to adding my strength to the efforts of the HFFH in this regard. You've been a tremendous influence in my life Mathew, thanks for all that you do and keep marching Soldier of Reason!

I not only voted for Trump twice, but I funded (to the extent of my minor financial capabilities as a retired HS teacher) his campaigns. That said, I'm not a fanatic and I have a nagging suspicion that I missed a lot of details about the man from Mar-a-Lago. (For just a starter, how did a top graduate of the Wharton School allow himself to be so totally snookered by corrupt bastards like Fauci, Birx, Bancel, and Bourla?) So, sometime I'd really like to know your thoughts, Mathew, on Trump. Regardless of what you write, you won't lose my respect for your opinions. I've learned a lot reading here at RTE and I intend to continue doing so.

I really enjoyed the Tommy podcast. It's great to hear you and Dr. Rose together, and Tommy (is that his name? I've never seen him before) is a skilled host. The Zoom world, is not reflective of how we present in "real life." Without the audience reflecting back to us, it is hard NOT to feel self-conscious. The other awkward part is knowing whose turn it is to speak. That was a great trip down the rabbit hole!

Information is beginning to seep out that the vaccines may cause neurological damage. It is possible your tremor exacerbation is due to that.

I wish you were less self conscious. I don't read you to learn about the size of your nose or whether you could do a better job at public speaking. I read for the content. I hope that helps.

Expand full comment

Oh, the nose thing was just a joke about the [play] button. But I do wish to be a better public speaker. There is a specific story there, but it would take time to explain. I made a conscious decision to steer aspects of my personality, which disconnected me from practiced oratory. But I'm glad that I did so---but still desire to re-practice speaking to get back to a level of better communication of important ideas.

I see more and more normies waking up and feeling quite loss at where to start. For some of us that have been breathing conspiracies for the last two years, it’s like speaking in short hand, but we need to fill in the gaps for those who are just joining this party: a Conspiracy Theory 101 podcast. We have gone from being a minority dot connectors to now an overwhelming majority and confusion will make folks vulnerable to falling for all sort of rabbit holes, including the elites own propaganda still raging and coming up with new crises to occupy our critical thinking. This titanic needs some more lifeboats.

I don't think that we want to couch it as "Conspiracy Theory 101", but more like, "How the World Really Works," which is somewhat the core mission of RTE.
