Yep, always liked that one. It's a classic, and surprisingly historically accurate.

This from news clippings at the time: Arizona Weekly Citizen’s article about the gunfight. October 30, 1881.

Did Doc really say “You’re a daisy?”

Yes, according to eyewitnesses of the gunfight and also to newspaper accounts, he did. During the gunfight Frank McLaury said “I’ve got you now, you son of a bitch.” at which Doc Holliday replied, “Blaze away, you’re a daisy if you have.”

I'm also really impressed at how, in the movie at least, Johnny Ringo faced up to Doc Holliday. Hesitant at first, no doubt, but once challenged, had to take the challenge.

JR: "Alright Lunger, let's do it." Doc: "Say When."

Gunslingers are a different breed. Death means nothing, it's inevitable, one day it will come for each and every one. Pride, skill, honor, truth--those mean more.

Explains much of Aaron Rogers' success and also his response to this madness.

Oh, interesting. I wonder if there were multiple written records of what he said. I know there were numerous depositions taken and have been preserved. Diary records, too.
