Thank you for the interesting article. I thought it might be worth mentioning the Baha'i association the the Theosophical Society through Abdu'l-Baha. Thank you for the interesting article. I thought it might be worth mentioning the Baha'i association the the Theosophical Society through Abdu'l-Baha. He gave many talks to Theosophical Society groups during his travels in the West in the early 1900's; for example, in Marseille ( https://bahai-library.com/abdulbaha_talk_theosophists_marseille/ ), London (invited by Annie Besant; https://bahai-library.com/abdul-baha_abdul-baha_london/#s6 ) , Boston ( https://centenary.bahai.us/vignette/chairman-theosophical-society-gives-impressive-introduction-about-abdu-l-baha-audience-five ), and Chicago ( https://bahai-library.com/abdul-baha_address_theosophical_society/ ). He disagreed with some of their beliefs (see e.g. https://www.bahai.org/library/authoritative-texts/abdul-baha/some-answered-questions/13#305997145 ). If nothing else, the transcripts of these talks outline some of the principles (at least the public ones) which the society may have held to.
Are you familiar with Hegelian dialectic?
Not really; never properly understood the meaning behind thesis-antithesis-synthesis. Sorry.
That mantra does seem to do more to confuse than to enlighten...
Think about a very wealthy individual who wants to push society toward a certain policy. He hires the popular politicians from both major parties to argue different points back in forth such that the synthesis favors the movement of the debaters, along with their crowd of followers, into the desired position that accepts the new policy. This may include astroturfing whereby controlled activists get out in front of any real grassroots efforts to steer the public, clearing the path toward the desired synthesis.
I need to put this into words with a larger article that will help more people recognize that "partisan this" and "partisan that" are not what they appear on the surface.
A lot of spiritualists around the world broke bread easily with Theosophists, despite the fact that the Theosophists looked so absurd to anyone following their frauds and controversies. This signals to me that there is a larger network. Theosophy was just built to play the center stage role. I suspect that the Baha'i were invented to be bit players in that drama.
All so interesting!

Very interesting…
There are some interesting items here: https://bahai9.com/wiki/Theosophy
e.g. "A Bahá'í cannot at the same time be a Theosophist; many Theosophists have become believers and very enlightened ones, but as we do not believe in reincarnation we obviously cannot be active as Theosophists and Bahá'ís at the same time."
