Do you have a memory of a Shazaam movie starring Sinbad? No.

Did you remember Berenstein Bears or Berenstain Bears (when you first heard of this memory controversy)? Berenstein... If it was stain, trust me I would remember, my sister and I loved fart jokes.

Do you have a memory of Mavis Winehardt? No.

Don't really know anything about the Shazam movie.

I grew up remembering it as "Berenstein Bears", had a genuine shock when I saw people discussing it.

*I remember seeing a fascinating documentary about Mavis Winehardt and her performance with Michael Winslow, not usually my thing...but a very interesting journey.

Did you remember Berenstein Bears or Berenstain Bears (when you first heard of this memory controversy)? Berenstein Bears - in fact, I have a vivid memory of asking my parents whether to pronounce it "steen" or "stine," neither of which aligns with Berenstain.

- No memory of a Shazaam movie with Sinbad.

- Always knew it was Berenstain with an A, but then again, I've always been really into spelling and names. (Born in 1978, if you need that info.)

- Never heard of Mavis prior to reading your post today.

I vaguely remember Berenstain bc I never watched it or any of the other stuff you're talking about.

* some other Sinbad movie from the seventies, not Shazaam (Gomer Pyle USMC used to say "Shazaaayam") (good quote: "trust in Allah but tie up your camel")

* Berenstain (my kids were born in the early nineties)

* Mavis Staples ("I'll Take You There") some other tragic young singer from England named Winehardt, I think.

1. I vaguely remembered some ad for the Sinbad movie, or maybe it was Shaq, but that memory is obliterated by the controversy.

2. I wasn't upset to see 'Berenstain', so maybe I remembered it that way?

3. Ooh, haven't thought of Mavis in a long time. Was she on Real People or That's Incredible!, some show like that? Maybe she was a guest host on the Muppets. I remember her going back to New Zealand or wherever she was from.

Was she a kiwi?

She had just a little accent but it was weird to think about because she was always mimicking people.

1) Shazaam rings a bell.

2) I lean toward Berenstein Bears but wouldn’t bet the farm.

3) Never heard of a Mavis Winehardt or I bumped my head shortly thereafter.

No, Stein, No.

I also remember reading Mandela died, and was surprised when he suddenly was alive and leading South Africa.

The best defense against them changing the truth is the past is getting old books. An old encyclopedia set from 1965 is likely old enough, though one from the 70s might still be ok.

1. I thought Shazaam was a Saturday morning TV show for kids, and not starring Sinbad but a guy with thick black curly hair.

2. -stein

3. Never heard of her

I remember Sinbad as a genie character, not sure if he was on a TV show or in a movie.

It could have been "stein or "stain, I had a Berenstain/stein bear books but I lost it.
