The supernational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national autodetermination practiced in past centuries.” -David Rockefeller

Not preferable to anybody but the likes of David Rockefeller. As he is talking to his elite fellow Americans in this quote, it would be accurate to call them traitors to their country.

I assume we have been in a low grade war for all the marbles as long as I have been alive, that is now just devolving into outright hostilities and blowing up pipelines-grade acts of war.

Where will these transnational elite be safe though? If they think their CBDC is the key, doing away with cash, I'm thinking the (illegal) cartels will have something to say about that. I think they are safe as long as everything runs smoothly. Once they play their hand though, they have made enemies of the whole of humanity, and odds are against them.

There are two kinds of totalitarianism: the directly brutal in Animal Farm and the nice-ish illusion of 1984. These are people who know how to handle enemies by making them all enemies against one another, first.

But as my titling of the war implies, their failure can only be an economic one.

I presume they are planning a take your bimonthly multibooster or your currency card won't work, which would be an amalgam of the bipolar nice-ish/outright brutal.

I think centrally-controlled and programmable CBDCs will make it harder for Joe Public. But in much the same way as black markets pop up whenever there is rationing, alternative ways to trade amongst ourselves will emerge if CBDCs introduce too much "friction". Commerce always finds a way.

I imagine the CBDC would function something like Twitter except all encompassing. So I imagine a LOT of friction. Such black markets will indeed come to dominate, one of the reasons I think of humanity as inherently anarchic, because like nature we organize spontaneously when necessity dictates. I have considerable more faith in that, than I do in the ability of our elite to do anything but make life increasingly miserable for an increasing number of people.

David’s one world obsessions are rather consonant with his paternal grandfather’s zeal to dominate and rationalize the oil industry.

Excellent post. Spot-on reframing of the situation we are in. The quotes from Rockefeller are chilling.
