Note: It turns out my friend-organizer is using eventbee.com, which specifically competes with Eventbrite, which everyone wants to avoid for what sounds like good reason. As luck would have it, he's friends with the owner.

I could be wrong but I believe Eventbrite has been accused credibly of bad behavior towards what they consider misinformation spreaders. If I were organizing an event like this I'd verify this allegation one way or the other. It may no longer be true, or it may never have been true, or it may be true now.

Do you have an alternative recommendation?

I know nothing about them, but I'm glad to hear the info, and I'll keep it in mind whether we skip using them now or transition elsewhere for some possible future second event.

I'm wondering if you may be confusing EventBrite with one of the many companies that have done this sort of thing.... (I don't know.) I know that the entire schedule of events around the DeSantis inauguration here in Tallahassee yesterday was organized via EventBrite. Surely he would've been deemed a misinformation spreader, too.... Man, I wish I lived closer to Austin, I'd be "in!"

Perhaps we need to arrange a dinner for those who wished they were in Austin 🤣

Great idea. Maybe Matthew can zoom us all in, if that’s not too complicated? I would enthusiastically attend remotely from my kitchen table with dinner and a drink.

Thought I'd mention that Eventbrite is not a good app. Often it does not work right to get your tickets, and it requires conformance to their community standards.

Wow, what a nice idea. I would just love to go along to this, if just to meet a few like-minded folk AND eat steak! I'm sure everyone who manages to go will have an absolutely brilliant time. I'm jealous!

If they read RTE, they can purchase tickets, but I don't know them personally.

Understood, and fingers are crossed that there is a magical yet feasible way to bridge that communication based on someone who is reading this. Enjoy the dinner. I will be there in spirit from Pennsylvania. It sounds like a wonderful opportunity.

It sounds like there’s loads of enthusiasm to attend remotely. Would popping open a laptop for adding zoom to dinner be feasible? Sheldon, the owner of YakkStak in Substack Land did that last night from a suburb of Edmonton. It was riveting for three hours. He called it a town hall, does it occasionally, and it was my first time attending. Sizzling discussion was had from the Canadian perspective, but we also had attendees from Florida, Pennsylvania, Central America, and further abroad. I would be delighted to attend Matthew’s dinner party remotely from my kitchen table in Philly. Probably 10 of my friends too. And please invite Tessa Lena :-).

I regret, Mathew, that I am not in Austin.

Hi Mathew and Team,

I am sorry not to be able to attend as I live in Calif. May all connect and enjoy.

Sadly, that is right in the middle of The Greater Reset event in Bastrop. Looking forward to the next live event you hold because I would love to meet some of this group.

I was treated to a birthday dinner at Fogo de Chão in Austin probably about 7-8 years ago? I haven't been back since but it was DELICIOUS then.

Hi Mathew (or anyone in Texas!)

Off topic, but if you had time..

Dr Roger Seheult tweeted out Texas rates of positive tests and deaths by vaccination status last week.

I replied the headlined rates are miscalculated and BS:

Also, I recall your Defining Away Vaccine Safety Signals series in 2021.

Have you seen Norman Fenton(Where are the numbers?) and Josh Guetzkow's (Jackanapes) new stacks on the newly released CDC data on safety signals?

Expand full comment

No, but I'd analyzed the data before the article came out. I thought I was going to be given a heads up on the release because I was laying out a relationship of the thoughts between all that. But I think it's clear at this point that I'm being made invisible as actively as possible, whether that's by leaving me out of invites or keeping others in the loop for immediate piggy-back publication.

Expand full comment

That's a pity. But I think it was more just a case of the journalist who FOIed the data decided to send it to those two people (who he knew??) for analysis.

From Norman Fenton's stack:

Zachary Stieber of the Epoch Times obtained the results of the CDC analysis through a Freedom of Information Act request after the CDC refused to make the results public. Zach sent the spreadsheets with the results to myself and colleague Josh Guetzkow asking for comments. Zach has now published his article on this - with links to all the data - including some of the comments that Josh and I provided. The article is also published on the CHD website. Josh has also now published his own extensive article.

I got them, too. Josh and I discussed them a bit. Josh is one of the several people who have been following all that for the past 18 months. He is a smart guy.
