This was an amazing unifying piece. When you zoom the lens way out it is impossible to see this any other way. But it begs the question:

Now what are we going to do about it?

At the Rationalist we are a society of problem solvers and our belief is this: The number one problem is that our systems are corrupted. We need to fix this problem first. And the answer to that problem is to create new systems that plug in to the existing ones that fix this, using transparency, decentralization, and technology.

Here we identify the same exact problem as you did Mathew - albeit with not nearly as much amazing detail - but we also examined SBF and Harvard and Bill Gates link to the pandemic and killing Ivermectin use. But most important we offer up solutions to society.

But of course there is the tyranny of the masses/mob problem. However we are beginning to think that we could address that in a new form of Blockchain Democracy. We plan on writing about it soon. I’m a former securities enforcement attorney (defense side). The SEC does not need new tools or more tools to fight this. The fact that FTX advertised “no risk” and “guaranteed returns” is all you need to prove fraud. Your one screen shot in this article is enough. Both those assertions are huge red flags.

Expand full comment

One doesn't need be an attorney to see the multiple red flags. I'm amazed FTX's advertising was allowed to run and not attract the interest of the FTC and other enforcement agencies. I cut the cable cord many years ago, so hadn't seen these adverts until posted by others covering this fiasco. But then just like the prior mortgage bubble and tech bubble meltdowns--stimulated by ultra-low interest rates/inflationary monetary policy/fiscal irresponsibility--the greed of the crowd chases it tail into the next "can't lose" proposition until it devours itself in a frenzy. Lather. rinse. Repeat.

As an aside, the narrative constructed by RTE is waaay too convoluted. The simple story is the big money (Sequoia, et al.) saw FTX as (potentially) a global crypto exchange, a trading platform rivaling others, e.g., NYSE, NASDQ, CME, etc.

Yet an FTX lacking a board of directors (supervisory, fiduciary oversight), while at the same time lacking any internal controls, was destined to implode as disastrously, incompetently implemented, and therefore makes dust of the convoluted narrative before it gets anywhere close to lift-off.

In finance, as most walks of life, follow-the-money is sufficient motivation to link various, sundry, and despicable people. It's not necessary to have an overarching conspiracy. The money and the power that flows therefrom, is motive enough.

My condolences on your brother, I was very sorry to read that, and also felt privileged to know that information.

Thank you for covering so much ground and offering up such a treasure trove of data and possible paths of speculation. It's wonderful to be able to piece together the different parts of the elephant.

I found the latter half of the piece the most interesting, as I felt it kind of underwrites the reasons for what is going on with FTX. I know people often say follow the money, but I think what this piece points to is the idea that sexual impulses and the need to secure them through power, necessitates the control of money.

I remember Slavoj Zizek bringing up an insightful quote by Wilde that is apt:

Everything in this world is about power, except sex. Sex is about power.

There is an inexplicable connection between the two, which is obvious, but the more powerful one becomes, like your brother and the circles he operated in and Epstein, the more perverted one's sexual appetite can be satisfied. A good example are the dishes of gourmet meat the 'world leaders' at the G20 were eating, grass fed wagyu fillet, etc. The powerful and wealthy can satisfy and experience different and the highest forms of gourmet decadence at the dinner table, and this seems to carry over into the bedroom. They seem to fight for the power and money to transgress the law and engage in sexual immoral behavior, which connects up with the FTX girls' insight on rank. Maybe. the litmus test on one's position of power is demarcated about what one is able to consume and experience in all facets of their life.

It's funny when you think about this whole situation through a Christian, spiritual lens. I'd recommend reading the tempting of Christ in the desert. The devil offers him domain over the world and access to all things under the sun, but Christ would have to serve the evil. Christ doesn't. And the poisoned hierarchies of power destroy his flesh on the cross. But the great irony is that Christ is at the top of hierarchy, as he is the spirit of consciousness within us, he is the vine (spirit) within the branch of the body (within all of us). Christ is important because it shows how those destined to rule are not like those that get seduced into the pedophilia power structure of the devil, human evil, and our darkest sinful impulses. These people playing their games of elite power-sex-war-death cult struggle are destined to fall by the wayside, Epstein is a fine-example, they set the trap for themselves and die, because they throw their lot in with thieves who turn on them.

If the elites flatten the social hierarchies for the common people and limit consumption, I can't help but feel they are inadvertently playing into the hand of God, because material consumption is a stumbling block to material and spiritual growth and development. But I think this is why they are trying to attack and overwrite our biology and evolutionarily castrate us.

The point about taking all the DNA from humanity before the mass kill off is important. It's important because we realize there is a human ARK. It is in the hands of evil and wicked, but if we could wrestle this off them, that alone would be a wonderful and emancipatory achievement. Also reverse engineering the incisions into the genetic genomes of those who have been damaged, is essential if that is the case.

I think another point is that -- the elite are seeking to control genetic variation and the inheritance of Genius cognition for themselves. I think the MEEM's you posted are mis-leading and in fact the opposite in reality. Over huge swathes of a population, the chances of a genius being born, is more likely to parents who are not genius themselves (I could be wrong, but this is what I read) so by culling the herd, the Elites limit the ability of the lower structures of the hierarchy to produce genetic champions to topple their Power structures and nefarious agendas. They want to cut off how intelligence is naturally spread across large sections of the population and recode through artificial means all genius IQ into their own Elite closed and tiny group. They want to limit competition for control of power, money and sex, by preventing the emergence of random geniuses amongst the populace who are not indoctrinated with the Elite mindset and mentality. I don't know much about genetics, so this could be an erroneous point. But an anecdote I point to is Pereira who won the UFC fight against Adesanya, who came from a favella in Brazil. While Adesanya, is a black African from an upper-class background who migrated to New Zealand. This example shows how what can be operating at the micro can be operating at the macro scale.

I think Christ offers a pristine example of how to move forward and the Buddha as well. In Buddhism the most ethical leads and tends the group, and all flourish, because he loves and cares for all. I believe this is the desire of God, but the darker drives of humanity prevent this from occurring, likely because it's easier to rule as a tyrant than an ethical, gracious and compassionate Shepherd, like Christ. This battle of hierarchical order is prevalent in society, those who will lead us, and move us forward will be those who lead from the base, and who spurn all the entrappings of the poisoned and Satanic hierarchy. People flourish when aligned with God. The devil slowly destroys a person, something made clear from the latter part of the article. We are all faced with the archetypal decision

to serve God or men. That's why there has been a war on religion in the west, a blotting out of true Faith, because one can be fooled into thinking one's only option is to serve men, and by defacto one' s self. This key decision comes down to how one perceives oneself. Is one a separate self? Or is one an inter-being spirit with all beings? The banker who travels to Asia to have sex with young girls lacks the insight that he is not only himself but the person he harms, they are spiritually arrested in their development. Those who have the insight of inter-being see themselves on all person and all beings, they act ethically, they are righteous and just, because they have equanimity in their interactions with others, as God calls on us to be, we naturally love and gravitate toward such people, I believe due to our evolutionary wiring, we are also drawn to people who fake such actions and behaviors.

There is a difference between wokeness and being awakened. Ethics is based on an awakening of the ethical spirit of God within us, it's premised on nature, Being, and the order of the universe. We don't get up and act ethical because that's the woke thing to do, such a foundation breaks down, and one falls into sin.

Remember what Zizek says about the light at the tunnel being an oncoming train. We are in a dark tunnel at the moment collectively. The train is coming down the tracks, and we stand in its way. I think this is a test of Faith. Can one stand up tall and straight with a train bearing down on you, if you can, you secure the light, and things improve, because one's Faith is tested before one sees the light, one is confronted with ultimate darkness before one achieves the light. This is true of the Crucifixion, Lazarus and Issaac having to kill his son on the mountain only for God to still his blade and protect his beloved son. The killing and perversion of the human species and all species is an ultimate test of Faith. It's the story of Noah's ark, have we been here before?

Have a happy day, friend. Here is a poem that illustrates your exact point and mine.

I was listening to the Diamond sutra last night. And I wanted to share with you a key point that has evaded me. It's the idea that we only have the concept or idea, until we can embody and live the concept, which means no longer have to think about it. Often, we can think since we have had an idea, it will stick and it will become a part of ourselves, but I don't think that is actually the case. The idea comes and it goes, and then we continue living with the same perceptions before we made the connection and had an idea. We need to hold onto the idea and take up practices to glue the insight deep into our consciousness, which takes continual daily practice. As we do this, the insight becomes embodied and is no longer an idea that is separate from ourselves, we inter-be with the idea, so much so that we do not need to every worry about forgetting it. Living the insight of interbeing is really important, it cuts straight to the heart of the gospels and dharma, like a diamond. When we love others, act compassionately and charitable to them, with no need to be paid back, and when we can do sustainably and skillfully, this helps us reinforce the insight of oneness. You may be doing this already, I'm reminding myself while writing this, and also sharing it with you, as it is part of the Diamond sutra, and show shares the Diamond sutra, accumulates positive kamma for all.

In the Diamond sutra there is a beautiful image presented to us. The Buddha taking many beings to the far shore of enlightenment and insight. Christ does the same thing taking the disciples to the far shore in a boat. The boat is the idea or insight of interbeing, once we reach the far shore, we no longer need the boat, the idea, the insight. When we have taken a hundred people to the far shore with the boat, in truth we have taken no one, for we are all one. The boat of the dharma does not stop until it has taken all and none to the far shore of spiritual enlightenment. Already, people live in harmony an awareness in this world, they are the children of God, which the bible talks about. Many of us are caught in this ill society, because we have false perceptions and are tied to materialism, the people up the top, show that they do not know the path to the cessation of suffering.

I think Matthews last point is the most important in this entire essay. He shows how all prosper when we treat others ethically and fairly, he shows how his calmness and inner stability and how this offers great returns and benefits. He is portraying his Buddha mind, that we all have, and which is the spirit of Christ within, that will lead and shepherd the world, because it offers good fruit to the world and its people.

Psalm 1

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not whither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, they are like chaff that the wind drives away.

The power hungry, sexually insatiable, genocidal, money obsessed Elite, deserve our compassion. How hungry they must be? They are like hungry ghosts needing to be feed, they are like dogs chasing after their tail. Better to have good character and lose one's life, than all the treasures of the world. As Christ said,

'What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?'

The word of God (in any form) is more desirable than gold, even the finest gold, sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.

I am so weary of the phrase "cognitive elite." The world is populated by idiots? Sure, most people ain't bright like them MIT fellas, but the world's idiots do faaaaaaarrrrr less damage than the "cognitive elite."

And they're not elite. One look at the FTX crew and you can see that they are physically, mentally, and emotionally ill. Listen to any one of them for 5 seconds and any doubt is eliminated. They don't impress one as the cream of the crop. And if they are, then heaven help us.

We don't need any more math whiz kids, prodigies, nerds, geeks, etc etc. Kids need to go outside, breathe the fresh air, get some sunshine and play with other kids for crying out loud. Pressure cooking kids into hyper nerdom is (has?) destroying (destroyed?) our future.

I take the term "cognitive elite" from Charles Murray's book Coming Apart (which I recommend), though I don't know where it originated. It's a convenient phrase for those with the IQ-education combination requisite for the tech economy (broadly defined).

I agree with you about pressure cooking the kids. When we built AoPS, it was for kids who, like us, did not have access to resources to further their interest in math. But a substantial portion of the clientele (hard to even guess a percentage) turn out to be these pressure cooked kids, including those seemingly traumatized into these sorts of warped personalities whom we see involved in this scandal. And yes, they're unraveling the culture and believe that's a good thing without spending enough years absorbing the world to even begin to understand the implications. Of course, this is at least part of the reason why they're also good targets for elite cults.

The first warning I recall about the "cognitive elite" came in Murray's and Herrnstein's book, "The Bell Curve" from 1994. And it was a warning that high IQ people were concentrating and congregating into high-level institutions, people who had been scattered across the country before the mid-1950s. The implication, I think, is that, if/when these people start cooking up schemes to control the population, because they were obviously chosen to do great things by virtue of their innate superiority, we should be wary of their intentions.

I can't help but comment on the irony here. We have this observation on Peter McCullough's substack:

"Since 2000, we have seen a steady train of massive frauds committed by our political-financial-and military establishments—always with the mainstream media cheering on the fraudsters. Instead of wising up, much of the public seems ever more gullible, always willing to buy into the latest scam, in spite of it being an obvious scam to anyone of ordinary prudence who conducts twenty minutes of due diligence.

As a student of history and a true crime investigator, I have always endeavored to understand human behavior instead of dismissing it as stupid. Attributing events to mass stupidity strikes me as a poor interpretive framework that cannot yield insight.

However, the FTX scandal leaves me bereft of any other explanation. An alarmingly large proportion of our citizenry is now indistinguishable from the hopeless suckers that populate Idiocracy.

Tucker Carlson’s reporting on FTX reminded me of President Camacho’s State of the Union address. The bizarre world presented in Carlson’s true FTX reporting is virtually identical to that depicted in the 2006 comedy."

https://petermcculloughmd.substack.com/p/idiocracy-realized-with-the-ftx-scandal

FTX and Alameda come crashing down, apparently absurdly mismanaged by "a circle of young adults with genius IQs", which the suckers who invested their money there should have seen coming from a mile off, the reporting of which is so absurd as to be reminiscent of an address to the people in the film Idiocracy. They do like to have a good laugh at us from behind the shadow curtain.

To be clear, I don't believe that people are (generally) stupid. I threw in the meme from one of my other articles about antibodies being like electrolytes, but that's more like a stupid idea that might be held by people in a zombie state who believe what they're fed to them. As I try to make clear in my education articles, I believe almost everyone has been trained into a state of cognitive underperformace. I think that state, along with fatigue and fear, truly underlies the reason people accept these massive corruptions and abuses.

I think this also explains the people who most virtue signal in favor of the criminals. Those lower in the hierarchy must prostrate themselves to the Church, so to speak. They're the ones who take up the tools of castigation taught to them with the greatest fervor. And once they've started, they have difficulty stepping out of the outrage emotional feedback loop. It's sad and disturbing, and engineering that state into them is the greatest of all of the crimes. It's a controlled reduction of humanity.

Expand full comment

I agree that people aren't generally stupid. But I think lots of people can act stupidly some of the time, echoing the old adage 'you can fool a lot of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time', or something like that. In this case we have a contingent idiocracy, where the bar of credulity is lowered in large numbers of people according to certain societal triggers. Worryingly, this appears to be happening more frequently, and more significantly across ever larger numbers of people. I guess it's what Matthias Desmet might identify as mass formation psychosis, but I think there might be some important subtle differences. Your description of 'trained cognitive underperformance' seems apt and accurate, but it's important to realise I think that the underperformance is not permanent and is highly dependent upon certain conditions which must be met.

Would be good to say "so-called" or "alleged" cog- elite, e.g., though I prefer something like 'highly imbalanced homo sapiens', rather than repeating terms that mask that which reveals an elemental sickness at base that gets reified and even praised within our technologically obsessed modernity.

WOW I need to sit down and reread after coffee tomorrow morning but this is a stunning piece of work

Wow. Just wow. I’ve been a free subscriber up to now but efforts like this deserve to be rewarded. I’ll take care of that tomorrow after my eyes recover. LOL.

My quick take: SBF is sitting in a CIA safe house, halfway around the world, supplied with all the uppers, downers, and trans binary pedo sex partners he desires.

With that said, I wouldn’t bet on him living to his life expectancy. Unless they send him wherever they are hiding Epstein.

Epstein was an employee of the Israeli government, he was buried in Israel like Robert Maxwell and Jean-Luc Brunel.

I've pondered that in the past, and have it in my notes for another article.

That is a very good question. Matthew, any connections to Barry Sherman and his pharmaceutical company?

We never hear any more about that, do we?

Amazing piece but I’m still absolutely gobsmacked over the infectious clone; it is such a marvel. You and JJ and others figured it out. They were like flashbangs designed to stir up fear. It makes so much sense. It was so odd the outbreak in NY in early 2020. The IC created weird symptoms, killed a few people, mostly elderly or sick, then *Poof!* Gone. Reverted. But by then tons of PCR positives had been generated and the media did their part.

Mathew you always manage to stretch my educational experience. I spent 2.5 hours reading this the first go round because I didn’t want to miss or miss-read any of it. I need to go back through it again, because I am sure I missed something. It is a master work.

Well holy shit! None of the potential connections would surprise me. Will have to re-read this a few times. A lot went over my head on the first read.

This is nothing less than our “1984”. It needs to be published as an e-book along with a dozen supporting video(s).
