Excellent overview. Though I might argue whether the Sassoon crime family was "British".

The City of London power center became a gravitational force that sucked in other powers. If you wanted to do the world's business, you needed at least an outpost in London. This is how globalism emerged.

"City of London power center". Decent name. To make sense of our world, we need names that support sense-making. Whatever occupies such power centers ought be distinguished from the nation or people that host these (alien) powers.

I sometimes wonder if there is a technology of amoral systematic exploitation that has co-evolved with/upon people with higher moral sensibilities, and whether the adepts at this technology of exploitation have established "power centers" like the City of London at a series of places around the world over the course of history.

Clear concise overview. Easy to see how the CCP would like revenge.
