We are often told that demographic problems result from the two earner household. But what if the "job" of one of the parents was to teach their own child? And that duty could sometimes be combined with other families (cooperative learning groups).
Yesterday, my wife pointed out to me that recent per pupil spending for pre-K through 12th grade education in the United States is over $13,000. In New York City, that amount was $28,000 as of almost two years ago (perhaps $14k and $30k now?). Were that money paid straight to the parents, there would be a lot of parents happy to quit a stressful job to spend time with their own children and guide them.
There would also be people like me happy to hand them some curriculum and make videos about how to use it.
I bet parents would have more children, and the children would likely learn much more given the substantial gains noted by Benjamin Bloom for personalized instruction. More healthier kids, free of the effects of indoctrination and of the social abuse that goes on in the schools.
Note: This week I will be working with some friends to start making several thousand pages of curriculum available to home schoolers. I believe this can be done for the cost of a single textbook.
I've been saying this for years!
Taxation is social engineering theft and is used to dumb down via "education" more at indoctrination centers.
Create local school co-ops -- the quality of learning will be far superior.
It's like Little House on the Prairie where communities take back control of their education, or local crowdsourcing.
